Investing in massage is investing in your health. Bodywork sessions are each unique depending on the goals of the client. You may schedule a relaxation massage, a therapeutic massage, or a session that combines those two goals. The practitioner will use one or more of the modalities described below during your session.
Swedish Massage is the most commonly known form of massage. Swedish mainly relaxes the muscles and eases aches and pains. A Swedish full body relaxation massage is often a good first session to receive.
Pregnancy Massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. A special table is used with breast and belly cutouts that can be removed so that the client can receive massage while face down in comfort.
Acupressure is a technique from eastern medicine that focuses on specific "pressure points" within the body's energy pathways. By releasing blockages in this system, acupressure can often relieve numbness, alleviate chronic pain and awaken the healing process.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, yet profound method of working with the craniosacral system, those membranes and fluids that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This work assists the system to balance from external or internal restrictions. It is often experienced as very calming to the central nervous system.
Polarity Therapy balances the energetic systems of the body. It is especially effective in situations of emotional upset or severe physical trauma and is often experienced as very calming to the central nervous system.
Myofascial Release assists the body's system of connective tissue (fascia) to unwind and release restrictions.
Reflexology is similar to acupressure in that focuses specifically on the feet and hands. Through a system of reflexes, every major organ in the body can be stimulated during a reflexology session.
